Working with a third-party logistics provider (3PL) can help reduce the costs of fulfillment.
Outsourcing fulfillment can drive down costs because:
- 3PLs can offer bulk discounts on shipping.
- 3PLs can offer bulk discounts on packaging supplies.
- 3PLs can reduce the strain on your employees and their time.
- 3PLs eliminate the need to invest in expensive equipment or commit to lengthy warehouse leases.
- 3PLs can scale with your business as it grows.
While some 3PLs have more creative pricing structures than others, you can generally expect similar fees across the board. Most 3PL fees and rates cover four areas: initial setup fees, receiving/processing fees, storage fees, and fulfillment or shipping fees. Depending on your business’s needs and the 3PL you choose, additional services might incur additional costs.
ShipBob fees and rates
ShipBob only charges for receiving, storage, and fulfillment. Every other service and feature is included as a complimentary perk of working with ShipBob. These additional services include cloud-based fulfillment management software, account setup, white-label packaging, order kitting, returns management, packing and shipping supplies, and more. Additionally, ShipBob offers bulk discounted shipping rates via all four major U.S. carriers.
Unlike other 3PL fees and rates, which include an initial setup fee, ShipBob offers free, fast, and easy onboarding. Our software integrates fully with all the major e-commerce platforms, including Shopify, WooCommerce, and Amazon, so onboarding is hassle-free.
ShipBob charges for receiving inventory based on whether the inventory is palletized or container freight. Inventory storage is charged per pallet or per bin. Finally, ShipBob offers some of the most cost-effective fulfillment fees and rates around. We do not charge a separate fee to pick or pack orders. Outbound shipping rates and fees are determined based on the lowest cost solution for each package that leaves our fulfillment centers. Costs vary depending on a variety of factors, such as box size and weight, delivery location, and carrier. However, because of our partnerships with major carriers, shipping fees are often less than individual merchants can negotiate for themselves.
