Culture at ShipBob

ShipBob’s culture is rooted in collaboration, innovation, transparency, and a shared commitment to our merchants’ success and the success of our team members. Because we are solving some of the most difficult challenges in global ecommerce, we expect a lot from each other and have a high degree of shared accountability to ensure our merchants are successful. We celebrate our shared successes, learn from our mistakes, and continuously strive to be a place where our team members can do the most impactful work of their careers.

Radical transparency

Transparency is key to our success and creates an environment where good ideas come from anywhere within the organisation. We want our team members to fully understand what it takes to build a long-lasting global business, and we do this through regular company-wide town halls, all-hands meetings, AMA sessions, and continuous communication.

This way, team members understand our goals and opportunities to improve, and have the chance to engage openly with ShipBob’s leadership team. We believe we all perform better and drive results faster when everyone is armed with clarity on how we’re performing and what matters most to our merchants and our business.

Mission-Driven

We work together with a common goal in mind.

Humble

We work hard in silence and allow success to do the talking.

Creative-Problem-Solvers

We see only opportunities, never impossibilities.

Resilient

After the hardest climb comes the best views.

Safety-Minded

It’s not just talk; it’s the way you work.

Action-oriented

We identify and take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. We readily take action on challenges and display a can-do attitude in good and bad times, stepping up to handle tough issues.

Results-driven

We consistently accomplish our objectives, even under tough circumstances and unplanned obstacles. We have a proven track record of exceeding goals and push ourselves and others to achieve results.

Adaptable

We rebound from setbacks and adversity, growing from hardships. We are confident under pressure and manage crises effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.

Customer-focused

The ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions. We continually gain insights into customer needs, identify opportunities to solve their problems, and deliver solutions that meet our customers’ expectations.

Collaborative

We give credit where credit is due, while we put the good of the company over the good of self. We believe in continuous improvement and are receptive and eager for feedback and incorporate that feedback with a growth mindset. We know that together we will go far and produce greater results for our merchants.

Professional Development Reimbursement

We are proud to provide team members with professional development opportunities that increase their skills and enhance their careers. Full-time employees who have been with ShipBob for at least 90 days are eligible for reimbursement for approved development costs, such as membership fees to professional organizations, seminars, and courses.

The Culture Committee

The Culture Committee is a group of committed employee volunteers who represent various ShipBob teams to align and collaborate on ways to uphold and enhance our culture. Everyone at ShipBob is welcome to apply to join this group. The committee is involved in the planning of Town Halls and engagement activities, such as Halloween costume contests, ShipBob anniversary week, and other events in coordination with our ERGs.

How we think about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We strive to build a workplace which is safe and accepting, not just through the policies but also through actions. We understand the importance of different perspectives, experiences, and characteristics, including race, gender, sexual identity, socioeconomic background, and more.

We strive for equal opportunity across all levels of the organisation. This means providing opportunities based on merit and potential, and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to be heard. We want ShipBob to be a workplace that values and respects all people, where people have a sense of belonging regardless of their perspectives, experiences, and characteristics.

Manager, merchant success

Alyssa Colletti

When we meet our merchants in-person, we often greet them with a hug rather than a handshake. I think that is really powerful and speaks to the incredible partnerships we build! Our team is the face of ShipBob and plays a part in our merchants’ growth and success. The job itself is dynamic and challenging, yet so rewarding when we have those ‘a-ha’ moments, such as unlocking a new marketplace, optimising a merchant’s inventory placement, securing a long-term contract, helping a brand scale globally, and more.

Revenue Enablement Lead

Colleen Sheils

One of my favorite projects was collaborating with Business Development leadership to create a hybrid Business Development Representative (BDR) team. This shift to a hybrid model allowed us to conduct live, in-person training sessions rather than virtually, which had a significant impact. We saw increased engagement, faster skill development, and a growing office environment.

The Zone Skipping initiative was my first multi-team project at ShipBob, and I loved that I could showcase my ideas and knowledge and learn from others. I am proud of how smoothly we rolled it out. I was able to leverage my technical leadership skills and vast experience working on distributed backend and event driven systems to bring zone skipping to life.

Manager, Client Acquisition

Codee Burton

I oversee Account Executives in North America, responsible for driving revenue in one of our highest growth markets. I do weekly pipeline reviews to ensure accurate forecasting and quota achievement, and I empower my team by equipping them with the tools and resources they need to be successful. Many leaders have empowered me throughout my ShipBob journey and trusted me to make crucial decisions such as headcount, monthly business reviews, strategic pivots, and more. This has played an instrumental role in shaping me into a better leader.

Working at ShipBob has inspired & motivated me to wake up every morning. Working in a new market (Australia) has been really exciting. We are really helping local Aussie brands and giving them access to our ecosystem, operations and technology so that they too can grow and scale.
