In 2016, friends Patric Fa\u00dfbender and Marcus Stahl were troubled by how digital their children\u2019s worlds had become, and set out to develop an alternative form of entertainment. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The duo created Tonies: a physical speaker system that, when paired with a specially-designed Tonies figure, would play audio content. The product helped kids engage with feel-good educational material and pique their imaginations through immersive storytelling.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After launching in Germany, the brand quickly became one of the most popular toy brands in the country. Tonies has since expanded to the US, and partnered with both multi-national large-scale retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Pottery Barn as well as smaller, local retailers and toy shops.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In search of a fulfilment provider with expertise in direct-to-consumer (DTC) channels and a large US network, Tonies partnered with ShipBob in 2021. The visibility of retail is great, but DTC is really where you can enhance the consumer experience, and we\u2019ve done a lot with ShipBob to determine what we could feasibly and affordably do to improve the customer experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ShipBob has been a great partner for us because they have the same \u201ccontinuous improvement\u201d mindset as we do. We\u2019re constantly looking for ways to improve our operations, keep our budget down while making the experience better for our customers, and ShipBob has been so open to that. It really has made things easy for us to look at the data and make better decisions. Not all partners are set up that way \u2013 oftentimes when you\u2019re using other providers\u2019 technology, you have to pull the data yourself, and there&#8217;s a lot of work to be done on the back end.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-blog is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cI often brag about ShipBob\u2019s software. We get visibility into receiving, order volume, SKU availability \u2013 everything from inbounds and inventory transactions to individual order statuses (whether it\u2019s on hold, in processing, an exception order, and other detailed descriptions).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All this data is real-time, meaning that we\u2019re always seeing the most accurate, up-to-date information. Having this real-time data is crucial for my team, so the fact that there&#8217;s not hours of lag time waiting for data to update is huge.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-blog is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cOur fulfilment data feeds into our ERP, but a lot of times, we\u2019ll go to ShipBob\u2019s dashboard because the data is instant and real-time. A lot of 3PLs don&#8217;t have the ability to perform tasks or handle problems in multiple ways \u2013 it\u2019s usually an all-or-nothing ultimatum because the systems are so rigid. But with ShipBob, we can manage our operations at a really granular level, and we love that.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, ShipBob\u2019s platform allows us to split orders into multiple shipments on our own if we can\u2019t have customers waiting too long. On multiple occasions, ShipBob\u2019s team has even helped us prioritize which orders to split, and which to keep on hold to optimise based on impending inbound SKU availability.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s so great to know we have the ability to be flexible in those situations, and to make decisions on a case-by-case basis.
