Not everyone saw the vision right away \u2014 the investors he pitched his prototype to assured him that the business would fail.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Discouraged, he returned to the workforce \u2014 only to meet Ben Day, who believed in The Adventure Challenge just as much as Bryant did. Day invested his own money in the venture, which the two used to buy their first round of inventory and restart the business.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Despite everyone\u2019s doubts, The Adventure Challenge quickly became a wild success. The startup earned over $250,000 in revenue in its first quarter alone, and $6 million in its first year. It wasn\u2019t a scalable, long-term solution that would facilitate our growth.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Because our business was growing at lightning-fast rates, we needed a solution that would provide flexibility and that we could communicate with easily to solve problems. ShipBob was that solution for us.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>I\u2019ve worked with a number of fulfilment providers throughout my career. We recently started selling through a few major retailers, including Kohl\u2019s and Francesca\u2019s.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Learning to tailor our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.close.com\/sales-strategies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sales strategy<\/a>, marketing, and packaging to each retailer\u2019s requirements has been a challenge, but that\u2019s where ShipBob really comes in handy. ShipBob is EDI-compliant with dozens of popular retailers, and their API integrations make it possible for them to fulfil orders according to each retailer\u2019s compliance guidelines.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>It\u2019s going really well! It looks like international sales will overtake US sales in a few short years \u2014 so we are definitely using ShipBob\u2019s international fulfilment centres!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>We\u2019ve found that there is consistent demand for our products abroad, and ShipBob\u2019s ever-expanding and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shipbob.com\/product\/grow-global\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">growing global<\/a> fulfilment network enables us to tap into that demand much more cost-effectively.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Currently, we have stock in ShipBob\u2019s fulfilment centres in the UK, Canada, and Australia. Even though most places were on lockdown, many families and couples who had quarantined together got stir-crazy and ended up looking for creative ideas to cure their boredom. As a result, we actually saw a huge uptake in purchases!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201c<em><em>Fulfilment is one of the areas that we were super keen to outsource to a partner who\u2019s been <em>ShipBob was invaluable in helping us navigate the COVID supply chain crisis, especially during the 2020 holiday season. Some fulfilment providers keep a curtain of secrecy around their operations, especially when issues arise \u2014 but not ShipBob. ShipBob\u2019s software directly integrates with Shopify, so our orders are automatically processed and forwarded to the fulfilment centre closest to each order\u2019s destination.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Our award-winning customer service program also has its own tech stack. We always seem to have new campaigns launching.
